What is BookCrossing?

BookCrossing is the idea, to free books.

That means, they are being given away for free to unknown people. No hooks attached.

Whosoever takes them, may pursue them, should she or he wish to do so. In doing this, it becomes possible, to tell a book´s story, and also to track its way through the world. Many books are travelling already in this way. This project is web-based, naturally; however, it is not a virtual project. It is a very real and palpable thing; it is the most scattered, de-centralized, disorganised and surprising library in the world.
